This is that time of the year when it dawns on everyone that the holiday is over and it’s time to lose whatever weight that might have been gained over the break. While the gyms might be filled up with people also seeking to attain the same goal, here are some easy tips to help you get your body back without necessarily visiting the gym.

Say good bye to Rice and Fizzy Drinks: Two of the biggest causes of weight gain for us Nigerians are definitely rice and fizzy drinks. Rice is easily the go-to food for many Nigerians. We different varieties of rice which make it easy to keep eating it every day. Carbonated and sweetened drinks are also a weakness for us. You would have to stay off these is you really want to lose weight. They contain carbs and sugars that are responsible for weight gain. So the first step to lose weight is to ditch these.

Eat mostly protein, vegetables and fruits: Lean protein, veggies and fruits are your friends. They contain nutrients that are excellent for the body and do not have carbs. Substitute most of you carb meals with protein, vegetables and fruits.

Stop eating after 6pm: You probably will not get the chance to work out whatever meal you eat after 6pm. A good idea will be to not eat meals after 6pm. If you must, ensure they are fruits or vegetables. This will go a long way in helping stop gaining weight.

Eat smaller food portions: An effective method to lose weight is portion control. Eat smaller food portions. This way you wouldn’t have to starve yourself. You can eat up to four small meals in a day.

Run for 20 minutes every day: Running is an effective way to lose weight in every part of your body. If you can take 20 minutes every day to run in a week, the result will be rewarding. If you can’t, you could try doing it every other day.

Take long walks: Never underestimate how effective walks are. You might find out that in your day, there might never be an opportunity to take long walks. You have to deliberately create time to take daily walks. This also is effective for every part of your body especially your sides.

You do not have to wait till you can go to the gym anymore, start losing weight right away!
