Nigerian apps

With mobile devices taking over the world, it only makes sense that mobile users will constantly be looking to download mobile apps that can simplify their lives and make their processes easier. What’s great is that there have been very creative apps developed by Nigerians for Nigerians; so I decided to put together a list of my top 6 favorite Naija mobile apps I think deserve recognition and more adoption.

If you do not have any of the apps I’ll mention on this list, you should definitely download them after reading this.

Amebo: So Amebo is a content aggregation app that pulls articles from different Nigerian content websites. With Amebo, you do not have to visit all your favourite sites for updates as Amebo gives you constant updates of all the relevant content websites in Nigeria including the Konga blog. A daily visit will ensure you get all the scoop about latest happenings in Nigeria – news, business, entertainment, lifestyle, etc. The best part is that it’s free! Of course that’s a criteria for any app that will make this list in the first place. It’s available for Android and IOS users.

KongaPay: The KongaPay app by Konga is the best thing that could happen for payments in Nigeria. The payment solution has currently partnered with other offline retail and e-commerce platforms to provide a safe, swift and secure payment solution for their businesses some of these businesses include Fashpa.com, Printivo.com, Paylater, Dealdey, Iroko, lightup.com.ng and offline shops and stores such as Café Neo, City Dia and select Mr Biggs Outlets.

Some of the unique features of KongaPay include: Fast & easy one-time signup at no charge to you, link your debit cards and bank accounts for seamless transfers and payments, pay with just your phone number and 4-digit PIN, set up payment subscriptions and recurring payments, forget long-winded transfers, just send money to a phone number, make airtime and cable TV payments, code or enter your (KongaPay registered) phone number at any participating store, share your payment QR codes of sales Items on Social Media (me-Commerce). What’s not to love!

Okada Books: Book lovers, this one’s for you.  Okada books is an eBook app for Nigerian books by Okechukwu Ofili. With as little as N3, you can download you favourite Nigerian book. Trust me, the collection is very wide so you don’t have to worry about not finding something you like. This feels like eating your cake and having it.

Konga Mobile App: I like to call this my market encyclopedia because regardless of what I’m searching for, I’m sure to find it! My car remote case got broken a few days ago and I reluctantly typed “Nissan car remote” in the search bar and I actually found it! There are also app only deals by Konga from time to time on the Konga app. The shopping process is seamless and stress-free. The app is available for Android, IOS and Blackberry 10 users.

You can also download this from the Google play store and the App store.

Aboki Forex: In these times of fluctuating exchange rates, you certainly need Aboki Forex. What I like about it is its accuracy. You can count on Aboki Forex to know the current exchange rates for different currencies. It also has latest money updates and news from around the world.
