Fitfam, here’s one for you! On the 6th of February, there will be a 42 km International Marathon in Lagos organized by Access bank and Lagos State tagged “The Access Bank Lagos City Marathon.” Over 20,000 athletes from over six countries will be participating. Some of the participating countries are Kenya, Ethiopia, Bahrain, Eritrea, Morocco, Cameroon, Uganda and India.
Also, over 120 professional athletes from all around Nigeria will be part of this tournament. Artistes such as Patoranking have also indicated that they will be part of this event. It actually is a big deal as this sort of event was last held in 1983.
The starting point is National Stadium in Surulere by 7am, and would move through Western Avenue, Ojuelegba bridge, Jibowu bridge, Ikorodu Road, underneath Anthony bridge, underneath Maryland bridge, Ojota, Alapere, 3rd Mainland bridge, Osborn Avenue, Ikoyi bridge, Admiralty way, Lekki Concession Toll Gate, Ozumba Mbadiwe, 1004 Estate, Ahmadu Bello Way, Federal Palace Hotel, Silverbird Galleria, NTA, Bar Beach and then terminate at Eko Atlantic.
The total prize money to be given out is N92 million. The first prize will win $50, 000, while the second prize winner will get $40, 000, and the third prize winner will get $30, 000. In the Nigerian category, first prize winner will get N1 million; second prize, N750, 000 and N500, 000 for third prize.
