Happy New year everyone! Like the beginning of every New Year, there is a lot of joy, expectations, optimism and of course resolutions. Although many people have long given up on resolutions because they break them in the first three months, some still go ahead to make new ones. Whatever group you belong to, these tips will certainly help you in achieving your set goals and New Year resolutions in 2016
Be Realistic: As much as you want a clean slate and fresh start, you have to make your goals realistic. For instance, if you are a size 18, do not resolve to become a size 8 or 10 before the year is over, this will put a lot of pressure on you and you just might crash. Instead, resolve to lose as much weight as you can with written down steps on how to achieve it.
Understand the Reason for the Resolution: It is one thing to make a resolution and another thing to really understand why you are making it in the first place. You do not decide to quit smoking because everyone says you should, you should decide to quit smoking because you are fully aware of the adverse health implications and understand how bad living with a health condition could be. This will involve digging deep to find out why you even smoke in the first place. Resolutions are not made to please anyone.
Track your Progress: Take out time once a month to see how well you’re doing on your resolutions. Reward yourself when you’ve done well and don’t be too hard on yourself if you’ve derailed. Remember you can get right back on course as it isn’t the end of the world.
Get a Resolution Buddy: Finding someone with a similar resolution is always helpful. You both can encourage each other and you definitely will not want to disappoint your resolution buddy. Seeing the progress he or she is making will definitely spur you on.
In the end, it is all about making use of the time you have to become the best YOU there can be. Happy New Year once again!
